Week 5 - Family show

This year’s family show was one of the best I’ve seen in my four years in the program. Friday morning, we entered the Salle Saint Louis, our performance space to begin rehearsals. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside is a professional presentation space that seats 500. Technologically, it is a bit dated, but it provides for our needs.

Each group found a space to rehearse before we went through the show in its entirety. Then we put the entire show on its feet, running through the show once before lunch. The students suddenly realized it was crunch time. They had to pick up their game.

After lunch, we ran through the show with very few hitches. After that run, we just ran our transitions. By 4pm, we let the kids go to spend some energy and get some dinner before they had to be back to prepare for the real thing.

We scheduled for 8pm and the curtains parted about 8:15. The show was incredibly well received by the families. And the kids worked their hearts out. It really was great.

I present some stills below. But there will be a video of the entire one hour and 20 minute show at this link in the next few days: Spectacle Brest 2019.
